I?m a gay man recovering from narcotics addiction. My drug of choice: heroin. I first sought help from this drug so prevalent in the gay community about three years ago. After being at a healthy weight of 200, I was down to 145 and a shell of my former self. During my first week at the facility, I soon realized that this wasn?t going to be the same process I was used to at other clinics. I knew immediately that this was a place with people who understood the pressures in this world for being an openly gay man. I learned through this center that the use of snow isn?t prevalent throughout the entire gay community but mostly in the gay party scene. I was provided with alternate activities that would take me away from the parties and still allow me to meet other gay men that share my similar interests.

Through the center, I was able to get to the root of my problems and see that there wasn?t any reason for me to feel ashamed of whom I am. After I first came out in early 1991, my parents stopped speaking to me and since that time I have been on my own and the counselor showed me that this longing for acceptance was the root of all my evils.

Lakeview showed me I wasn?t alone and that other homosexuals have been grappling with an array of substance abuse problems as a way of retreating from their demons. As an HIV positive male, I became well informed as to just how devastating dope is on the body. The facility informed me that my weight and heightened stress levels enabled the virus to run ramped throughout my body.

Lakeview also provided a restoration of dignity to the self, something I hadn?t experienced in a long time. I felt less like an addict and more like a human being again as I learned to control my urges through constructive activities in a nonjudgmental environment.

Anyway you look at it, the treatment process is always more effective when surrounded by people who understand exactly what you?re going though and what it means to live a homosexual?s lifestyle.

Living in Boston, Mass. and being gay there have been plenty of activities for me to participate in. The gay community and their advocates were cohesive and fun to be around, until I got involves with Crystal Meth. Holistic Drug Treatment Center for the GLBT

I have found it hard to find a holistic drug treatment center that has the ability or staff to comfortably treat gay men and women. I guess I shouldn’t say the ability, but that has a staff trained. People you can just open up a holistic drug treatment center and effectively treat everyone. Well that just isn’t true. No one drug treatment program is right for everyone and the same holds true for a holistic drug treatment program.

Without seeming jaded, not everyone working in a holistic drug treatment center�is comfortable treating the GLBT, nor the issues affecting us. We have to deal with sexual orientation, coming out and internalized homophobia. Issues not everyone is familar with. It is my opiniion that if a drug treatment center is not expert in providing a particular type of holistic drug treatment, just refer the person to an appropriate holistic treatment program.

For those of yo who are interested, there is a holistic drug treatment program that is focused on the needs of the GLBT.�The drug treatment center is called, Freedom Rings……

New York’s Gay Popultation Heads to Florida Drug Rehab

New York has always been a city which embraces the gay and lesbian community. Along with Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida they have teamed up to support the GLBT community. We all know there has been a high incidence of drug addiction in the gay commuity and to meet this need Florida, more specifically Jacksonville, Florida designed a gay friendly drug rehab. This Florida drug rehab seems to have been admitting more and more LGBT from New York. We are not sure if�it because New York drug rehabs don’t cater to the gay community� or this Florida drug rehab is that good. What we do know, is Freedom Rings Florida drug rehab has grown considerably with GLBT from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and New York.

Holistic Alcohol Rehabilitation Worked For Me

I drank and used drugs for many years and to say I needed alcohol rehabilitation was putting it mildly. The problem was I had been in alcohol rehabilitation before and something just didn’t click. As the years went by, I began to hear about holistic alcohol rehabs, which incorporated additional teaching from the holistic world, so I took a look at holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs. I should say, my wife looked at holistic alcohol rehabs. I was too drunk and high most of the time.

When I heard these holistic alcohol rehabilitation programs had holistic services such as meditation, yoga etc. I asdi well at least it is different and went on to holistic alcohol rehab. While I didn’t become serene or able to touch my nose to the floor, I did feel more focused. When I left the holistic rehab, I felt more well rounded and ready for recovery. The holistic alcohol rehabilitation program focused on every aspect of my recovery. I would reccomend it to anybody.

Being Gay and My Valium Addiction

I had spent so many years being gay and denying it my life was just becoming unmanageable. The stress was unbearable and I just felt so anxious all the time. Then I was introduced to valium, which an hour after I took it I felt so much more relaxed. So I figured if I valium made me feel this good then two valium should make me feel better. Hence, the beginning of my valium addiction. It wasn’t long in the early stages of my valium addiction that I began mixing other drugs into the picture, but only to enhance an already susbstantial valium addiction.

Valium Addiction Treatment

My valium addiction got me to the point where I couldn’t even function. Forgt about my “gay issues”, I was a mess. My friend finally got me some valium addiction treatment in a residential treatment center. This addiction treatment for valium addiction was rough. I was so sick for what seemed like weeks I swore that I was done with valium, so I left valium addiction treatment early. How many times have you spoken to an addiction program only to hear the same old thing regarding the services they provide. It was not until I stumbled across this gay friendly addiction program that rekindled my expectations of a quality addiction program.

My Heroin Addiction Recovery

After growing up in Baltimore, Maryland and spending some time in downtown Baltimore, I realized there was more to life than living in the Maryland ssuburbs. I started off snorting cocaine with friends and then one day I met someone downtown who introduced me to heroin. Heroin was great and so was cocaine, so I used them both together for a while (8ball) Well before long I had a cocaine addiction and heroin addiction and was in trouble. My heroin addiction led me to spending more time in Baltimore city as that is where the heroin was. Then one day, I was arrested for selling heroin and was put in jail. While in the Baltimore jail my heroin addiction�was kicking my butt. I was so sick, I swore if I ever got out I would never use again.

Heroin Addiction Recovery

�I tried beating my heroin addiction by myself and it didn’t work. My addiction to heroin was just too strong so I left Maryland�for heroin addiction recovery. My first week ther was tough and my recovery from heroin addiction seemed like a dream rather than reality.
